Lanarkshire politician welcomes Scottish Government's additional £18m energy efficient measures funding

Neil Gray has welcome the Scottish Government's additional £18 million energy funding will benefit people in his constituency - and beyond - in their efforts to install energy efficient measures and reduce their heating bills.

The Airdrie and Shotts MSP says the extra cash brings the total support available to £50m in 2021/2022 and people are being urged to seek support and advice from Home Energy Scotland to help make their homes warmer and reduce their heating bills, on average, by up to £300.

Financial support worth up to £5000 is also available to make homes more energy efficient through improvements like home insulation, double glazing or a new heating system.

Home Energy Scotland also supports households with practical advice and, where appropriate, install energy efficient measures - making homes more energy efficient and saving householders money.

Mr Gray told Lanarkshire Live : “Winter is just around the corner and, with energy cost rising, it is only right that the Scottish Government looks to help households maximise their energy usage while trying to save money.

“Even if you do not qualify for any financial assistance, Home Energy Scotland can offer advice on how to make sure you stay warm without forking out over the odds to do so. I urge everyone in Airdrie and Shotts to contact the Energy Saving Trust on 0808 808 2282 to find how they can beat the winter heating blues this year.”
