Lanarkshire police probe serious assault which left victim 'dripping with blood'

Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in broad daylight in Uddingston yesterday.

Emergency services raced to the cross area on Main Street at 2pm, following reports of a violent attack.

Locals reported seeing blood dripping from the victim's head, with eight police cars and two ambulances tending to the male victim and securing the area.

The 43-year-old was taken to hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

Police have now launched an appeal for information and are urging anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward.

One eyewitness said: "I passed on Main Street and there was a guy dripping with blood. It looked like he had a big gash to his head; the people outside Hank Marvin were trying to help."

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Lanarkshire Live: “Officers were called to Main Street, Uddingston at around 2pm on Thursday, 3 March, 2022, following reports that a 43-year-old man had been assaulted.

"He has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and enquiries are ongoing.
