Lanarkshire police 'increasingly concerned' over welfare of missing man

Police in Lanarkshire say they are “are becoming increasingly concerned” for the welfare of a missing Harthill man.

Now they are appealing for help from the public in tracing the 39-year-old.

Derek Beattie was last seen leaving Gracie’s Bar in Glasgow around 7.35pm on Saturday (November 27).

Thereafter he crossed King George V Bridge heading in the direction of Commerce Street.

Sergeant Heather Wallace told Lanarkshire Live: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Derek’s wellbeing.

“Officers have been conducting a search of the area and have carried out extensive enquiries, including checking CCTV but there has been no further sighting of him since Saturday evening.

“I would ask if anyone has seen someone matching his description or anyone with knowledge of Derek’s whereabouts to contact with police.

“Anyone with any information is asked to come forward and speak to officers.”

Derek is described as around 5ft 9in tall, of slim build with red/auburn hair.

When last seen, he was wearing a black Nike jacket with a white Nike logo. Derek has a distinctive walk.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101. Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
