Lanarkshire police appeal for witnesses following serious assault on M8

Lanarkshire police are appealing for information following a serious assault on the M8 near Holytown.

A man suffered serious injuries in the attack last night.

Cops were called to a disturbance on junction 7, Eurocentral, at around 5pm.

A 30-year-old man was subsequently taken to the University Hospital Wishaw for treatment following the incident.

His injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

Now, specialist cops are calling on the public to come forward with any information regarding the incident.

Detective Inspector David Lamont, of Wishaw CID, told Lanarkshire Live: “Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing and we would urge anyone with information that could assist our investigation to come forward.

“The roads in the area will have been busy at the time so anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious is asked to get in touch. We are particularly interested in speaking with any motorists who were in the area and may have dashcam footage that could assist with our enquiries.

“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 2686 of 10 August, or call Crimestoppers on anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

As we reported earlier, commuters were warned of delays this morning as a result of the ongoing closure of the road where the incident occurred.
