A Lanarkshire panto has been cancelled because of Covid-19.
Sleeping Beauty's remaining performances at Rutherglen Town Hall today (Tuesday) and tomorrow have been scrapped after someone connected to the production tested positive for coronavirus.
In a message online, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture stated: "South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Ltd and New College Lanarkshire regret to announce the cancellation of the remaining four performances of Sleeping Beauty at Rutherglen Town Hall due to take place on 21 and 22 December.
"The decision has been taken to protect the health and safety of the cast, production team, venue staff and the general public, following a positive COVID case.
"Customers will be offered a full refund of their tickets in due course."
The panto is always a popular fixture in the town, and was returning this year after being unable to take place last year due to the pandemic.
The plot was described as being focused on whether fantastical fairies could break the evil Sadista’s curse and waken Princess Beauty in time for the finale.
Will true love and downright daftness win the day? Will Dame Nellie MacDuff ever find a man?
The next events at the Town Hall are not scheduled till February.
