Lanarkshire packaging firm creates new jobs as part of expansion

A Cumbernauld firm has created 14 new jobs at their state-of-the-art site in the town.

Pitreavie Packaging are taking on production operatives as part of an expansion.

The production department is responsible for the manufacture of products to meet customer requirements and are looking to recruit die-cutter operators, flexographic printers and gluing /finishing operators.

The 57,000 sq ft sheet plant in Cumbernauld – Scotland’s first new sheet plant in 20 years – is capable of manufacturing 30,000,000 boxes a year in a wide range of styles, large and small volumes.

It features an innovation centre where customers can visit and create bespoke packaging solutions, taking design samples home with them on the same day.

Pitreavie Packaging took occupation of the Cumbernauld site in late 2019 with an initial £3.8m investment and a further £1.2m commitment earlier this year, with three major pieces of equipment due in the coming weeks.

Pitreavie Group MD Stephen Heslop said: “The business has grown beyond our expectations, and we are delighted with the progress we have made since our initial investment.

"Our team has expanded significantly in the last two years to meet demand and we are now looking to fill 14 additional roles.”

The group is now well positioned to maximise expansion in the market generated from the rise in e-commerce with further growth projected in the next 12 months.

Stephen added: "We are very excited about the future and welcoming new colleagues to our business. “

Pitreavie Group operate sites in Aberdeen, Glenrothes and Cumbernauld, which are home to some of the most experienced professionals in the packaging industry.

The company specialises in packaging solutions and products, corrugated packaging, chilled packaging, timber crates, and transit cases.
