Lanarkshire MSP visits gluten-free confectionary company in Shotts

A Lanarkshire MSP has visited gluten-free confectionary company in Shotts.

Central Scotland list MSP, Graham Simpson, visited local confectionary company Lazy Day Foods at their factory to discuss the work they’re doing to cater for people with food intolerances.

The Conservative politician met with founders and professional food scientists, Dr Sally Beattie and Emer Bustard, at their site in Shotts to look around the facility and hear more about their plans for the future.

Lazy Day Foods, which was established back in 2006, are a leading producer of hand-made ‘treat’ products which are tailored to those with specific dietary requirements including gluten-free, milk-free and egg-free.

Their products are stocked in all major UK retailers and wholesalers with an added bonus of a 6-month shelf life due to the lack of perishable ingredients.

Mr Simpson said: “I was delighted to visit Lazy Day Food’s site in Shotts, who are a real success story in the region.

“Everyone should be able to indulge in sweet treats from time to time, including those with a food intolerance or dietary requirements.

“Their huge list of awards and commendations are a testament to the company’s great work.

“I thank Sally and Emer for taking the time to discuss their plans for the future and show me first-hand how the business operates.”
