Scouts in Lanarkshire have been awarded badges for combating plastic pollution.
The Earth Tribe Badges were presented to youngsters from Carluke Scouts who have been learning how to combat the issue recently.
Last month, the group wrote to Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley to highlight the problems modern society faces with climate change.
Problems with plastic pollution include threats to wildlife and the time that it can take hundreds of years to degrade.
Last Friday, June 10, Ms Crawley visited the youngsters to find out more about the work they have been doing towards the Earth Tribe badge and to present some of the Scouts with their badges.
Commenting, the Lanark and Hamilton East MP said: “I was delighted to be invited to present the scouts with their badges and reward them for all their hard work.
“It was fascinating and enlightening to hear the scouts’ thoughts on plastic pollution and climate change more widely.
"The troop were knowledgeable about the problems we, as a society, face and are very switched on when it comes to tackling these issues.
“I have been working in my office to understand and reduce my impact on the environment and hearing first-hand from young people what tackling climate change means to them has encouraged me to redouble my efforts.”
Youngsters at Carluke Scouts accompanied posters they had made to raise awareness of plastic pollution in their letters to Ms Crawley.
