Lanarkshire man who used clothes horses to smash windows avoids prison sentence

A man who used a clothes horse to smash windows at his former neighbour’s home has been put under supervision for a year.

Ian MacDonald said his partner had been bitten by the neighbour’s dog and landed in hospital.

MacDonald, 34, now of Glencairn Avenue, Craigneuk, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.

He admitted damaging property in Golfhill Road, Craigneuk, and breaching bail conditions by going there.

MacDonald also admitted assaulting a police officer and threatening officers.

He had appeared in court on November 24 in relation to another matter involving his former neighbour.

He was given bail and ordered to stay away from the man and not to return to Golfhill Road.

Another neighbour saw him smashing the windows at about 8.45pm on December 18 and contacted the police. Police officers arrested MacDonald who kicked one of them on the leg.

As well as putting him under supervision, Sheriff Ray Small imposed a one-month electronic tagging order.
