Lanarkshire man Jamie Reid last seen in soup kitchen as police launch re-appeal

Police have launched an urgent re-appeal to trace a missing Lanarkshire man who was last seen at a soup kitchen 13 days ago.

Jamie Reid has been missing for two weeks as concerns for the 44-year-old, who requires weekly medication, grow.

Originally from Burnbank, in Hamilton, he was sighted in the Eaglesham Road area, in East Kilbride, at around 11pm on Saturday June 24. It is understood he left the town on Saturday evening and returned back to his home town - which he has extensive links to.

Jamie was then seen at a soup kitchen on Beckford Street, Hamilton, on Sunday June 25 - with no further sightings since then.

He is described as white, around 5ft 9 inches tall, with blue eyes and short grey hair. He always wears a baseball hat and is believed to have been wearing a dark coloured jacket and possibly long trousers/jogging bottoms when visiting the soup kitchen.

Inspector Gail Nicol from Hamilton Police Station said: “We know that after leaving the East Kilbride area on the evening of Saturday, 24 June, Jamie has travelled back to Hamilton and was seen in the soup kitchen the following day.

“We’re keen to understand his movements from here as efforts continue to locate him. He requires weekly medication which he does not have access to and it is out of character for him not be in contact with anyone for this length of time.

“I’d ask anyone who may have seen Jamie, or a man matching his description, to report this to officer as soon as possible so we can investigate.”

Those with information should contact 101 and quote incident number 2469 of 30 June.
