Lanarkshire man, 48, dies following horror road smash on Scots road

A 48-year-old Lanarkshire man was killed in a horror road smash in west Stirlingshire at the weekend.

The incident, involving a blue Suzuki motorcycle, happened on the A891, near to Strathblane, at around 3.20pm on Sunday, May 28.

Robert Paton, of Bellshill, died from his injuries on Monday, May 29.

Emergency services raced to the scene and Mr Paton man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The road was closed for around eight hours following the tragic incident whilst a full collision investigation was carried out and reopened around 11.30pm.

Sergeant Nick Twigg of Glasgow Road Policing said: “Our thoughts are with Robert’s family and friends and our enquiries to establish the full circumstances remain ongoing.

“I’m appealing for anyone who saw the motorcycle before the crash, and who has not already spoken to officers, to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was on the A891 around the time and who may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101, quoting incident 2383 of May 28.
