Lanarkshire love rats exposed in new table of the UK's adultery hot spots

Lanarkshire love rats have been exposed according to a new table of the UK’s 360 adultery hotspots.

This year’s survey from IllicitEncounters.com, a dating site for married people, shows Hamilton as the top ranked Scottish town, and eighth in the UK, with 1431 cheats, 3.15 per cent of the population.

Motherwell was ranked fifth in the Scottish list with 803 signed up to cheat while Wishaw also made the top 10 with 658 locals logging in to do the dirty on their partners, just over two per cent of the town’s population.

Jessica Leoni, of Illicit Encounters, said: “A lot of Scots are trapped in unhappy marriages. They are sticking with their partners but seeking discreet excitement elsewhere.”

Other Scottish towns in the top 10 included Dumfries, Livingston, Irvine and Falkirk while cheaters in Cambuslang, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld and East Kilbride made the UK list.

The cheating capital of the UK is the Royal town of Windsor, according to the website.

The Berkshire town - home of one of the Queen’s official residences - revealed Windsor has 1,555 locals cheating on their partners or spouses after researchers used the interactive Infidelity Index which allows users to search a city, town or postcode to discover how many people are having affairs in any locality.

IllicitEncounters.com spokesman Christian Grant added: “Lots of couples cannot afford to divorce due to the cost of establishing two new homes, so they are sticking with their partner and adding some spice to their marriage by discreetly having an affair.”
