Lanarkshire Live stands with football against hate

Lanarkshire Live and Lanarkshire Live Sport are proud to stand in solidarity with everyone who faces hate and discrimination online.

Our sports social media accounts will be silent from 3pm today (Friday, April 30) until midnight on Monday, May 3.

Lanarkshire Live Sport proudly joins the boycott of social media as part of the campaign against online hate.

Organisations across the country have been joined by clubs up and down the UK, as well as organisations from rugby, cycling and horseracing, in staging the boycott.

As journalists this is not a decision we take lightly, but we believe it is important that Lanarkshire Live and Lanarkshire Live Sport add their voices to the calls for greater action against the epidemic of online hate and be a force for good in the communities we serve.

We will of course continue to create the outstanding sports content we are so passionate about - we just won’t be sharing this content on social media over the weekend.

Lanarkshire Live will continue to share the biggest breaking news this weekend, including covering the impact of this boycott.

We stand with football against hate.
