A Blantyre charity has a brew-tea-ful idea for combating the cost of living crisis.

Terminal One Youth Centre launched their new one-of-a-kind, free 'Tea and Tumble' service for local families and carers this week.

The intiative will see the youth organisation offer two tumble dryers for use to the public to dry clothes whilst people enjoy a free tea, coffee and snack.

Service users can dry their washing while they wait or return to collect their clothes once its finished. Those who do decide to stay will not only enjoy the offer of a cuppa but also free wifi, warm premises, some company and the offer of local school uniforms/clothes if required.

The new initiative, which aims at helping people cope with the rising cost of living has been hailed as "fantastic" by local people with one woman declaring online, "that is fantastic. Really fantastic, well done."

Meanwhile another said of the initiative: "This is amazing.

"First I’ve seen this anywhere."

A spokeswoman for Terminal One told Lanarkshire Live : "We are opposite ASDA Blantyre and close to the petrol station.

"We have two tumble dryers available for drying your laundry while you wait and have a cuppa or drop off and come back to collect when done. It's entirely up to you.

"We must let people know however, that don't have washing machines."

All services are available at Terminal One, based on Logan Street, Blantyre, on a Monday from 1.30am to 3.30pm;

Tuesday 10.30am to 3.30pm (Foodbank referals from 11am to 1pm);

Wednesday 1.30pm to 3.30pm;

Thursday 10.30am to 3.30pm (Foodbank referals from 11am to 1pm); and
