Lanarkshire karate kids take trophies in club competition

Karate kids from an Airdrie-based academy had a fantastic day at the LKA Children’s Club competition earlier this month.

Lanarkshire Karate Academy held events for club members aged four and upwards and loads of youngsters got their hands on some silverware, with many of them competing for the first time.

Events were held across boys and girls kumite and kickmaster categories with ‘overall best competitors’ also awarded.

One child was picked from each age group and the winners of the overall awards were: Kendal Reilly, Patryk Kania, Jack Hunter, Keir McDonald and Emmie McEwan.

Sensei Chantelle Allan, who runs the academy in Alexander Street, was blown away by the performances of her students.

She said: “Congratulations to everyone on their fantastic results and to all kids who took part, especially those who took part in competition karate for the very first time.

“There’s so much potential and future stars in the making here.

“I can’t wait to see them all in action again at our next competition in a few weeks time.”
