Lanarkshire juniors exodus confirmed as ALL clubs revealed as part of West of Scotland League

All of the junior teams in Lanarkshire will joined the new West of Scotland League next term brining the curtain down on the West Region juniors.

In a joint statement from George Fraser, chairperson of the Lowland League, East of Scotland chairperson John Greenhorn and South of Scotland League president Colin Holden they confirmed all of the West Region sides will be joined the set-up.

The proposals will be create leagues in a conference style with clubs able to opt in to playing in the Scottish Junior Cup, while still leaving the current non-league structure behind.

Those 63 clubs will be joined by Bonnyton Thistle, Glasgow University,  St Cadocs YC and Drumchapel United.

The statement also added "one application fell well short of the minimum standards required."

They continued: "This is an exciting time for football in the West of Scotland and the pyramid in general.

Blantyre Vics have applied to join the new West of Scotland League set-up (r.cavieres@virgin.net)

"Already several Clubs have made positive suggestions such as how the league might be developed. 

"All such suggestions are more than welcome and will be further encouraged in the run up to the video conferences."
