Lanarkshire hospice shop to re-open after makeover

The hospice shop in Rutherglen is set to reopen following a major makeover.

The store, which is brimming with lots of new stock including clothes, ornaments, bric-a-brac and electricals, is set to open its doors again this Friday, May 13 at 10am.

The shop is one of 17 hospice shops spread across Glasgow.

All profits from the shops support the care of people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow.

The hospice shop provides vital care to 1200 new patients each year and their families, both in the hospice and throughout their community services.

The shop managers, Nicola Cannon and David Young, are excited to welcome back old and new customers to the shop, which is located at nine Gallowflat Street in Rutherglen.

Nicola told Lanarkshire Live: “The shop is looking fantastic. People won’t believe how much brighter and modern it looks now. We are delighted with all the work which has gone into making the shop look tip-top.

“We hope lots of new customers pop in and all of our former customers return and have a look round their brand-new hospice shop.”

The shop is welcoming back two former shop managers as well as long-standing donor, Mary McMurchy who will be there on the day to cut the ribbon.
