Lanarkshire high school announces new student leadership team

Holy Cross High School in Hamilton has announced its new school captains and vice captains for the year ahead.

Staff and pupils have congratulated Niamh Cox and Orla Livingston on their new roles as school captains, while Elisa Carroll, Leboni Mzwimbi and Andrew Smith will become school vice-captains.

The pupils were chosen following a rigorous process which included an application form, power point and a presentation to head teacher John Reilly and depute head teacher Roisin Rea.

Mr Reilly told Lanarkshire Live : "May I, on behalf of all the school and young people in Holy Cross, congratulate our new school captains for 2021/22.

"It is a great honour to be elected to the post of captain and vice-captain and I look forward to working with them all, who, I am sure, will do a fantastic job for the school.

"May I also offer my sincere congratulations and thanks to all of the young people who had the confidence and courage to complete an application form for these posts; create a power point presentation and, finally, present their presentation to us.

"Each and every one of the applicants were absolutely outstanding, and I look forward to working with them too, as part of the wider leadership team in S6.

"Many thanks to all of you and well done."
