A Lanarkshire fitness instructor has hit a list of targets as he continues a year-long fundraising challenge.
Craig Curtis, 35, decided to take on the full #yearoftheburpee challenge for Wishaw suicide prevention charity Chris’s House.
That’s 365 days of full chest to floor burpees, beginning with one on the first day and finishing with 365 on day 365 – accumulating a total of 66,795 burpees by the end of the year.
On most days Craig will do the challenge at his fitness studio in Lanark.
However, he has also enjoyed a number of trips across the country and further afield to promote the challenge and the charity.
He said: “It has been getting tougher. Usually if I’m feeling on top form I can do them in half an hour but it can take up to 45 minutes.
“That’s why its good to get out, it’s almost been like a bucket list.
“ I’ve been to Millport, Skye, Ben Nevis and Glencoe in Scotland. I’ve also been to Celtic Park and hoping to get to Ibrox by the time the challenge finishes.
“I also went to Gibraltar in June, which was great and even did my challenge on the plane thanks to the pilot. That was a real thrill.”
The burpees are being carried out in all weather conditions, at a range of locations, with Craig, who runs the Curtis Bros Fitness Studio in Lanark, encouraging guests to join in.
Speaking as he took on the challenge, Craig said: “Mental health is something very personal to me. It has not only impacted me before but also family and friends.
“I am raising money and awareness for Chris’s House.
“This cause is very important to me not only because of the high prevalence of mental health issues during these current times but also because everyone, at some point in life, needs someone to reach out to.
“For some people, that feeling of being alone, afraid and unsure of what to do next can be catastrophic, however Chris’s House are there to help.”
