A Chapelhall start-up researcher and developer of renewable energy products says working with like-minded organisations can help the UK meet net zero climate change targets.
Autonomous iOt, founded in 2019, is committed to tackling climate change through the "research, development and manufacturing of environmentally conscious renewable energy products powered by the sun and wind".
The company’s new product - an intelligent lighting multi-use platform - has already been purchased and installed by Renfrewshire Council, Scottish Sea Farms, NG Housing Association and Martec Engineering, each benefiting from carbon reduction and savings on previous costs.
The platform, managed by a smart controller, is extendable for applications such as communication, smart-city connectivity, emergency alert systems, and many more developing and future technologies.
Autonomous have also engaged with the university sector, with four newly qualified graduates at the heart of the initial products being devised then delivered throughout the UK.
John Irons, newly appointed key accounts director at Autonomous iOt, told Lanarkshire Live : "We are setting out on a journey to help Scotland and the UK meet their challenging, but critical, climate change targets.
"We see our role as helping companies and local authorities across the UK meet those targets in tandem with a green job creation capability that can work with universities to unleash the huge talent pool which exists within the graduate sector.
"Our first product is part of a wider solution on climate change, and a starting point for Autonomous. With grant help from Scottish Enterprise, we developed the product and opened a manufacturing and research facility in the Central Belt of Scotland.
"We source the majority of our components locally and our workforce is from the local community; we have recruited recent graduates from Strathclyde University and have several projects on the go with them."
Autonomous iOt was founded by brothers Tony and Bobby Kane. CEO Bobby had returned to Scotland after two decades in the USA during which he saw first-hand the devastating effect of climate change due to the Californian wildfires, making him determined to make a difference and develop products which are now being used across Scotland.
