Lanarkshire emergency services in attendance after reports of cyclist being hit

Emergency services are at the scene of an accident in East Kilbride this afternoon.

Lanarkshire Live understands a cyclist was injured in the incident, which happened on Calderwood Road.

Police Scotland have been asked for a comment following the incident that is thought to have happened just after 3pm.

A spokesman told us : “Around 3.25pm on Monday, police were called to the Calderwood Road area of East Kilbride, following a report of a crash.

"Emergency services remain at the scene.”

A witness told us: “Someone has been knocked down just before the John Wright on Calderwood Road.

“It looked like a cyclist was in a bad way. The ambulance literally just arrived as I was passing.

“The person was on ground, surrounded by a few folk.”
