Lanarkshire duo face September trial over a number of charges

A Stonehouse man has been accused of assaulting a petrol station worker and hurling racist abuse at him.

Wilson and John AllisonWilson, 37, allegedly banged on a perspex panel, causing it to strike Suresh Kaliappan on the head and injure him.

Wilson, of Candermill Road, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.

He was charged with assault and threatening or abusive behaviour at the BP garage in Burnbank Road, Hamilton, on July 11.

He also allegedly shouted and swore at police officers, threatened them and spat on the floor at Motherwell police station.

Further charges state that Wilson resisted arrest and was in possession of ecstasy and cannabis.

Wilson and John Allison, 44, of Roseberry Place, Hamilton, also face charges in relation to a motor trail bike.

It's alleged they rode the machine dangerously in Roseberry Place on July 11.

They allegedly used it on the pavement and clocked excessive speeds.

Wilson and Allison are also accused of riding the bike without insurance cover and Wilson allegedly had no licence while Allison was allegedly disqualified from driving at the time.

It's further alleged that Allison was the subject of five bail orders and breached a curfew.

The men, who were represented by solicitor Jackson Bateman, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Trial is due to take place on September 21.

Wilson was allowed bail, but Allison was remanded in custody by Sheriff Andrew McIntyre.
