Lanarkshire dance school jubilation as three youngsters win bronze for Scotland at Dance World Cup

There was jubilation for a Lanarkshire dance school this week as three youngsters representing Scotland at the Dance World Cup 2023 picked up bronze medals.

Zoe Kirkpatrick-Brown, Daisy Robertson and Rae Hamil of Dance Elite Studios in Cambuslang finished in third place in the Lyrical Trio section at the Dance World Cup 2023 this week.

The week kicked off on Friday, June 30, at the opening ceremony parade where 7500 dancers, parents and trainers partied through the streets of Braga from the city hall to the aquare.

The young superstar performers danced their way to glory in the Portuguese city, finishing on Tuesday of this week, with Daisy’s mum, Emma Jane Robertson, speaking about how proud she, the other parents and coaches were of the kids.

She said: “All of the parents and coaches are immensely proud.

“There were 7500 kids competing, and only four were taken from each country for each section, so to even have gotten this far is an achievement, but to be going home with a medal is unreal.

“This is the first time that the dance studio has gone to the dance world cup, and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“Performing on the world stage was obviously daunting for them, but they held their own and were so confident. They have loved the whole experience and have totally embraced it.”

The trio were joined on the trip by 13-year-old Lily Gow, who also performed at the tournament, with all four of the girls being coached by Hayley Gorman and Daniella Brown on the trip.
