Lanarkshire coronavirus figures rise by another eight on Friday, March 20

The Scottish Government today said that 41 people have now tested positive for the coronavirus in Lanarkshire.

Yesterday’s figure for the county was 33.

The first case in Lanarkshire was confirmed on Sunday, March 8, when it was revealed someone from the Lanarkshire campus of the University of the West of Scotland (UWS), just outside Hamilton, had the  COVID-19 strain.

A total of 7550 Scottish tests have concluded. Of these:

■ 7228 tests were confirmed negative

■ 322 tests were positive

■ 6 patients who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died
