Lanarkshire cops on the hunt for crooks on mountain bikes after smash and grab at jewellers

Cops in Larkhall are on the hunt for two crooks on mountain bikes after a smash and grab robbery at a jewellers.

The incident happened around 4.30pm on Saturday and saw the thieves smash the window of a business premises on Union Street.

Police say a number of items of jewellery were stolen - now they are asking for help in tracing those responsible.

DI Susie Cairns told Lanarkshire Live: “Thankfully nobody was hurt during this raid, however, this type of crime has a massive impact on the businesses who become victim.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch with police so we can trace those responsible.

“The suspects were on distinctive mountain bikes so you may have seen them in the area near the time of the break-in.

“Please have a think back, were you on Union Street on Saturday afternoon?”

The suspects made off towards Academy Street and were riding white coloured mountain bikes, and were both wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
