Police were called to a number of incidents involving violence in the Wishaw area over the weekend.
That saw a man sustain a head injury following an early hours incident on New Year’s Day in Wishaw.
Police were called to reports of a disturbance at a property in Duns Crescent in Coltness around 2.30am.
A 47-year-old male was taken to Wishaw General for treatment and had to have stitches inserted in a head wound.
That led to a 40-year-old man being arrested and charged with serious assault in connection with the incident.
Elsewhere, two youths were arrested following a disturbance at a house in Wishawhill on Hogmanay.
Two men aged 17 and 24 were within the property in Cairngorm Crescent when the two teenagers turned up at the house.
It’s alleged that one of the men was punched in the face and that a utility knife was brandished during the disturbance.
Police arrived quickly at the scene and a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old subsequently being arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
The two were also charged with resisting arrest after allegedly struggling with officers. No bladed weapon was recovered.
Police are also investigating an incident where a retail worker was allegedly assaulted after approaching two youths who had entered a store in Cleland.
The 22-year-old was working at Scotmid in the village’s Main Street on January 2 when he challenged the pair whom he recognised from previous visits.
Police say the shop worker was punched in the face before the two youths made off from the store.
Meanwhile, cops are also looking for information on an incident where a taxi was vandalised in Wishawhill.
The vehicle had its side window smashed at some point between 8pm on January 31 and 1.20am on New Year’s Day.
The car had been parked on Heathery Road during that time.
