Lanarkshire college spreads goodwill with bumper foodbank donation

Students and staff at South Lanarkshire College have gone above and beyond this Christmas to donate a bumper haul to an East Kilbride-based foodbank.

They handed over on-perishable food items and everyday essentials including toiletries and gifts to local charity Loaves and Fishes who help those in need in EK and Strathaven.

South Lanarkshire College’s depute head of care, Wilma Macleod, who organised this year’s collection said: “We have been completely blown away by the donations we have received this year, especially since it’s been such a difficult year for many.

"The kindness and generosity our students and staff have shown, will make a huge difference to people across our community."

She added: "We were delighted to deliver the donations to East Kilbride foodbank, Loaves and Fishes.

"The everyday essentials they received will now be delivered throughout our local communities, helping to improve the everyday health, wellbeing and confidence of everyone who receives them."

Donations can be handed in to Loaves and Fishes and if you would still like to contribute, you can drop donations on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10 am and 12 noon at 40 Singer Road in Kelvin Industrial Estate.
