Lanarkshire businesses join forces to create curry ice cream

Curry flavoured ice cream is coming to Hamilton as two local businesses join forces today.

Sugar and spice come together with vanilla and onion part of the new recipe set to be a top seller this summer.

Award winning Hamilton businesses Mushtaqs Indian Restaurant and Equi’s Ice Cream proudly show off their new creation.

And after six months in the making, they are proudly announcing the unique ice cream being available today, April 1.

Curry and ice cream are two of Britain’s favourite foods which led business owners Ajmal Mushtaq and David Equi to combine their collective skills and create the new treat.

In a joint statement Ajmal Mushtaq, Chef Director at Mushtaqs and David Equi, Managing Director of Equi’s Ice Cream said: “People love curry and people love ice cream, so it made perfect sense to combine the two and create Curry Flavoured Ice Cream.

“We believe Curry Flavour Ice Cream will be a top seller this summer.”

Ajmal continued: “This ice cream has a perfect blend of flavours with hints of vanilla, onion, sweetness and spices in equal measure. This flavour is simply delicious. Even my dog loves it and he is really fussy”.

The six-month development of this recipe has been kept under wraps as a closely guarded secret. The two businessmen are now working to create a full range of curry ice creams such as Butterscotch Bhuna, Mint Masala & Cherry Chasni.

The Curry Flavour Ice cream will be available from April 1.
