Lanarkshire animal rescue centre's appeal for dog food donations

Monklands residents are being asked to donate dog food for animals being cared for at the Scottish SPCA’s Lanarkshire rehoming centre.

The local centre is particularly in need of Chappie complete biscuit dog food to feed labradoodles in their care, after taking in a number of puppies who were found dumped on a roadside near Jedburgh nearly three months ago.

Centre manager Gillian Boyle said: “We’re still caring eight of the 10 dogs who came to us at the end of August in appalling condition – they were filthy, matted and so weak from malnourishment and were also extremely nervous.

“They’re all doing well since coming to us in such a bad state, and some have even found the loving forever homes they deserve.”

Although the Lanarkshire centre currently remains closed to the public, animal lovers can make donations via the charity’s Amazon wishlist or via donation bins which have been placed outside the Hamilton facility.

The online wish list also includes disinfectant, grooming kits and soft toys for the animals, and the Scottish SPCA can accept donations sent directly to us from any online retailer with a delivery service.

Gillian added: “We understand that times are difficult just now but if anyone can help us care for these pups, we would be so thankful for anything that people can spare.”
