Lanarkshire Air Cadets squadron to welcome new members

Interested new recruits are being invited to attend an information to find out more about joining Monklands’ air cadet squadron.

The organisation is holding an open night on Tuesday at its headquarters on Bank Street in Coatbridge for youngsters and their parents.

Attendees will see a presentation by current members of the 1001 Monklands squadron, then hear from staff and have the chance to ask questions.

The minimum requirements to join are being aged 12 and at secondary school, with the upper age limit for joining age being 16.

Squadron officials say: “We offer a great variety of training both on-site in our headquarters and throughout the local area, including flying and gliding, first aid, shooting, the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme, sport, leadership and more.

“With our regular programme mostly back underway and our face-to-face training now back on the go, we are delighted to welcome prospective new cadets with a parent or guardian for an information evening.”

The event on Tuesday, December 14, runs from 7.30pm to 9pm; places should be booked by emailing oc.1001@rafac.mod.gov.uk, and more information is available on the Air Cadets website.
