Lanark United suffer Storm Arwen 'devastation' as Moor Park ravaged by weather

Lanark United have been hit by the full impact of Storm Arwen as gale-force winds rip through their Moor Park home.

Today's West of Scotland Football League Conference C meeting between Yowes and Ardrossan Winton Rovers is off as the storm has destroyed most of their ground.

Parts of the stand have been destroyed along with surrounding club property, leaving piles of debris dotted around the area.

Non-league clubs from around the WoSFL have already flooded in with their messages of support after the catastrophic blow.

A statement from the Lanark club reads: "Today’s match is off. The wind has destroyed the stands and buildings. Devastation."

Lanark United are not due to play at home again until December 18th, where they are scheduled to host Neilston.

Their next two matches are away from home - against Vale of Leven in Conference C action next weekend and against Renfrew in the Kilmarnock Pie West of Scotland Football League Cup a week later.

The club are currently bottom of Conference C, having won just one of their 19 league games this season.

Storm Arwen has swept across the UK and brought red weather warnings in some parts of Scotland, leading to widespread disruption.
