Lanark boss Colin Slater quits just one game into West of Scotland League

Lanark boss Colin Slater has quit the club after just one West of Scotland League game.

The Yowes opened their Conference C campaign with a 3-0 to Thorniewood with Slater being replaced by players Hugh Kerr and Mark Haddow.

Slater had been one of the biggest critics of the move from the West Region junior set-up to the new-look tier six and seven dubbing it a "death knell" for semi-pro football.

Lesmhagow (in red and white) are gearing up for the new season in October (Billy Quigley)

A club statement read: "Unfortunately Lanark United have to announce that our management team have stood down from their posts at the club and we would like to thank them for their efforts and the success they helped to bring to the club and wish them all the best in the future

"Senior players Shug Kerr and Mark Haddow will take charge of first team matters until further notice.

"All at the club would like to thank Shug , Mark and the rest of the players for stepping up to help the team in these challenging times."
