Lanark ASC trio take two medals from final open water meet of the season

Three Lanark Amateur Swimming Club athletes did well at the West District Championships at Loch Ken, the final open water meet of the season.

Justin Bone (11/12) won silver in the 1km event in a time of 16 minutes and 22 seconds, just missing out on gold by a second.

Abbigail McArthur put in a typically gutsy performance to take silver in the 15/16 years’ 4km event.

Her sister Millie was ninth in the 13/14 years 2km event.

Coach Karen Kelly said: “All of the swimmers deserve great credit for competing in the atrocious weather conditions in the West of Scotland!”
