Lanark ASC swimmer Justin Bone takes third open water title

Lanark Amateur Swimming Club’s Justin Bone won his third district title of the open water season, winning the 11/12 years boys’ 500m race at the North District Championships at Loch Morlich.

This followed on from his 1km gold at the East District at Lochore Meadows, and his Midlands District 2km win at Monikie.

The young swimmer, in his first year of the open water discipline, has three more events, all in August – the GB Championships at Loch Venachar and the West District Championships at Loch Ken.

Also competing in the North District Meet were 12-year-old Ayla Miller (500m) in her open water debut race, and sisters Abbigail and Millie McArthur (both 3km).

All three girls performed well, but just missed out on a top-three finish in their respective events.

After the championship, meet coach Karen Kelly said: “Justin has had an excellent season so far.

“All the swimmers are indebted to coach Stephen Pratt, who trains the swimmers for the open water season.”
