Lanark ASC duo reach finals at Scottish Summer Meet in Edinburgh

Lanark Amateur Swimming Club’s sister duo Millie and Abbigail McArthur finished off the indoor swimming season on a high when they both reached finals of the Scottish Summer Meet at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.

Millie, 13, was seventh in the 50m backstroke and sixth in 200m breaststroke, while 16-year-old Abbigail was eighth in the 200m backstroke.

The girls are part of the club’s open water squad and will be competing at Aviemore next weekend.

Coach Karen Kelly said: “The two girls have enjoyed a good season at district and national level.

“Millie was a multiple finalist at the Scottish Age Group Championships, and both of them have excelled in open water swimming, too.

“They are two of our most committed swimmers, and deserve their success.”
