Lana Del Rey tells Kanye West his support for Trump is 'loss for the culture'

Lana Del Rey has called out Kanye West over his continued support of US president Donald Trump.

The singer, who performed at West's wedding to Kim Kardashian in 2014, responded to a selfie on Instagram which showed him wearing a MAGA hat.

In the caption, West had written: "This represents good and America becoming whole again."

Del Rey commented on the post and described his endorsement of Trump as "a loss for the culture".

"Trump becoming our president was a loss for the country but your support of him is a loss for the culture," she said. "I can only assume you relate to his personality on some level. Delusions of Grandeur, extreme issues with narcissism – none of which would be a talking point if we weren't speaking about the man leading our country.

"If you think it's alright to support someone who believes it's OK to grab a woman by the pussy just because he's famous – then you need an intervention as much as he does – something so many narcissists will never get because there just isn't enough help for the issue."

She concluded with the sign-off: "Message sent with concern that will never be addressed."

Captain America star Chris Evans criticised West for the same Instagram post, over the rapper's criticism of the 13th amendment, which abolished slavery.

"We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment," West wrote.

Evans called the comment "retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying". West later attempted to clarify his remark by stating that he did not want the amendment abolished, but amended.

Evans' and Del Rey's criticism comes after a controversial appearance by West on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live. West followed a performance with an unscripted pro-Trump rant, that was not aired as the episode ran out of time, but was witnessed by the TV audience and other guests.

West's new album Yandhi was slated to drop during the SNL episode, but has not yet been released.
