Lana Del Rey has released a protest song in response to the recent mass shootings in the US.
The singer previewed the melancholic track on her Instagram page, posting a video of her performing in the studio alongside producer Jack Antonoff.
"I'm still looking for my own version of America," she sings on the track, titled Looking for America.
"One without the guns, the flag can freely fly. No bombs in the sky, only fireworks and you and I," the song continues.
The tracks comes as a response to the shootings that took place last weekend.
In El Paso, 20 people were killed and 26 more were injured after a shooting in Walmart, while nine people were killed in a bar in Dayton, Ohio.
Del Rey accompanied the video with the caption: “Now I know I’m not a politician and I’m not trying to be so excuse me for having an opinion – but in light of all of the mass shootings and the back to back shootings in the last couple of days which really affected me on a cellular level I just wanted to post this video."
She’s the latest musician to react to to the shootings, after the likes of John Legend and Rihanna also commented on the news.
Legend criticised Donald Trump on Twitter, writing: “When we condemn the racist venom coming from the President's mouth and point out the bigotry of his policies... the President regularly inspires killers. He is part of the problem.”
Rihanna also posted on Twitter about the news, writing: “Imagine a world where they build a wall to keep terrorists IN AMERICA!!!"
