Lana Del Rey has recorded a cover of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” for a new documentary about Liverpool FC.

On Tuesday (3 November) night, the “National Anthem” singer shared a black and white video of herself performing an acapella rendition of the football club’s anthem.

“You’ll never walk alone - accapella [sic],” Del Rey captioned the video. “For the new documentary about Liverpool @liverpoolfc.”

Originally the song that featured in the musical Carousel and was then performed by Gerry and the Pacemakers in 1963, has been the football club’s anthem for a long period of time.

The song gained new meaning for the club in the wake of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, in which 96 people died in a human crush at a Liverpool and Nottingham Forest match.

The song will feature in The End of the Storm, which will be released on 30 November.

The singer is expected to release her forthcoming album, Chemtrails over the Country Club, next year, following a 16-week delay in vinyl production.

It has now been postponed to March 2021, having originally been scheduled for release in September 2020.

The album’s first single, “Let Me Love You Like a Woman”, was released in October.
