Lana Del Rey will release a new album later this year.
The American artist, whose 2019 album Norman F***ing Rockwell! was named by many among the best of the year, confirmed in an Instagram post that the new project will drop on September 5.
A new album from Del Rey has been rumoured for some time — and will most likely be called White Hot Forever. In August last year, the artist confirmed she had “already written parts” of the album, and said it “will probably be a surprise release sometime within the next 12 or 13 months".
She is also set to release a spoken word album to accompany a poetry book, with a working title of Violent Bent Backwards Over the Grass.
The announcement came at the end of a long Instagram post, in which Del Rey slammed double standards for women in the music industry.
She wrote: “Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f***ing, cheating etc — can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money — or whatever I want — without being crucified or saying that I’m glamorizing abuse??????”

Del Rey went on to post what appeared to be a screenshot of a FaceTime conversation with Jack Antonoff — who co-produced much of Norman F***ing Rockwell! alongside Del Rey — hinting that he might be involved in the new project.
