Lana Del Rey breaks silence over controversial Glastonbury show after turning up late to BST Hyde Park gig

Lana Del Rey has spoken about her controversial Glastonbury set for the first time since it happened last month. The American songstress caused quite a stir after turning up late to her headline show on the Other Stage at Worthy Farm, due to her hair taking 'so long to do'.

The Summertime Sadness singer was scheduled to perform at 10:30pm on Saturday, June 24, however she didn't make it out until 11:00pm - leaving fans waiting 30 minutes. Her much-anticipated headlining set was then cut short due to breaching the strict festival curfew, forcing organisers to turn her mic off.

Lana's set had been due to end at 11.45pm, but was still going on more than 15 minutes later. At the time, she told the crowd: "I was so f****** late that I am about to rush this set today, if they cut power, they cut power.

"I'm super f****** sorry, my hair takes so long to do. I love you all. Let's run the set as it's supposed to go, let's do it!" When midnight hit, her microphone was cut off and an advert for the festival's Arcadia stage appeared on stage as Skepta B2B Jammer's performance began.

Lana was escorted off after trying to keep the audience entertained by singing her hit single Video Games acapella as fans sung along. Fast forward to the weekend, the 38-year-old was scheduled to perform at this year's BST Hyde Park in London on Sunday night (July 9).

She was meant to head on stage at 8.40pm, but arrived 20 minutes late - not coming on until 9pm. After greeting the crowd and introducing her track Diet Mountain Dew, Lana joked: "I think this is where I got cut off last time. Sorry about that."

Moments before her final song Video Games played, she made another reference to her Glastonbury set, adding: "It’s worth it if the power is cut." The singer-songwriter went on to finish her set just before the 10:30pm curfew.

Ahead of her BST Hyde Park set, many fans took to Twitter to comment on whether she'll be late again or not. LDRbartender posted: "10:30 pm curfew tonight ! Hope Lana won’t be late." Buglass_michael put: "Lana del rey better be cracking on with her hair right now so that she’s not late and has to be cut off due to the strict London curfew."

While at the time of her show, Shgerber12 wrote: "Lana del rey late again smh [shake my head]." Lanasdivacup put: "Lana Del Rey is 5 minutes late to her long awaited concert," before going on to add: "Lana Del Rey is now 10 minutes late to her long awaited concert."
