Lamptey, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic - Chelsea team news and expected line-up vs Brighton

Chelsea will look to start 2020 just as they ended 2019.

And that's with all three points as they travel to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton and Hove Albion on New Year's Day, three days removed from beating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Spurred on by the chance to complete a unique double over the two north London clubs, the Blues came from behind to win 2-1 thanks to a pair of late second half goals from Jorginho and Tammy Abraham.

Frank Lampard on how Tariq Lamptey made the squad vs Arsenal

Attentions now turn to the clash against the Seagulls.

In the reverse meeting between the two clubs at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season, Chelsea emerged 2-0 winners with Jorginho on target from the penalty spot and Willian also on the scoresheet.

Frank Lampard faces an anxious wait to see how his players have recovered from such a hectic festive period as he plots to complete a league double over Graham Potter.

But what's the latest team news surrounding the Blues?

Football.london takes a look.

The good news is that there are no fresh injuries to report.

Reece James, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Olivier Giroud and Marco van Ginkel all missed the win over the Gunners and Premier Injuries don't have a return date set for any of the quartet.

However, Marcos Alonso and Christian Pulisic are rated at 50% to return to the matchday squad.

Emerson Palmieri, Fikayo Tomori and Mateo Kovacic were all substituted against Arsenal, but those were for tactical reasons rather than injury related so the trio should be in contention to face Brighton.

In terms of a line-up, much depends on how much Lampard wants to rotate and the big decision is whether he hands Tariq Lamptey a full debut after showing faith in the youngster at the Emirates.

We expect the Blues head coach to avoid temptation to start Lamptey, but we do think he will revert to a four-man defence with the likes of Jorginho and Callum Hudson-Odoi earning a recall.

Expected Chelsea line-up: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Tomori, Zouma, Emerson; Jorginho, Kovacic, Mount; Willian, Abraham, Hudson-Odoi
