Lamp-post had to be cut down after car leaves road and crashes into it

A lamp-post in Carmarthenshire has had to be cut down after a car came off the road and crashed into it.

The incident happened shortly before 9pm on Sunday night, around two miles south of Cross Hands.

The car involved left Lotwen Road in the village of Cwmgwili before the front of the vehicle collided with the lamppost.

There were no injuries as a result of the crash.

However, members of the highways team at Carmarthenshire Council had to cut down the lamp-post using specialist equipment due to safety concerns, with the post leaning over the pavement following the collision.

Police confirmed that the driver was arrested at the scene.

However, a force spokeswoman confirmed that the motorist was later released with no further action.
