LaMelo Ball was named Player of the Game in his Drew League debut

At this point, we know this about LaMelo Ball:

One — he’s not going to play in college. And two — he has the potential to be the best player of the Ball brothers.

The 17-year-old made his debut on Saturday in the Los Angeles-based Drew League (a top pro-am league that has recently featured James Harden, DeMar DeRozan and Marvin Bagley III … to name a few).

Playing in a packed gym in front of Lonzo and the entire Ball family, LaMelo ended up earning Player of the Game honors in his first Drew League outing. He played alongside former Chino Hills (Calif.) teammate and five-star recruit Onyeka Okongwu in the win.

Here are some of LaMelo’s highlights.

LaMelo finished the game with 25 points and 6 assists on 6 of 12 shooting (3 of 9 from 3-point range). His team, No Shnacks, won, 90-71.

As far as LaMelo’s basketball plan for next season goes, LaVar has floated both China and Australia as possibilities. Five-star prospect R.J. Hampton, for example, opted to sign with the New Zealand Breakers in the Australian NBL over playing for Kansas.
