LaMelo Ball sides with LeBron James in NBA MVP debate against Giannis Antetokounmpo

The NBA’s Most Valuable Player award has already been voted upon. The league’s decision to not have games inside the bubble factor into the season’s awards led to a deadline for voting that came prior to the stop of play at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.

The biggest debate amongst voters and fans alike in this season’s awards was the MVP award. After Giannis Antetokounmpo raced away from the pack for much of the season, a strong multi-week stretch from LeBron James late in the regular season pulled him closer to the Bucks forward than any other player.

For most, James’ stretch of strong play wasn’t enough to get him in the conversation but for some, his performance in his age-35 season warranted consideration for the award. LaMelo Ball is among those that consider James to be the best player in the league this season as he tweeted his support on Wednesday.

Award results will be announced during the playoffs this season as opposed to previous seasons at an award show following the conclusion of the playoffs.

It is interesting that it appears the Ball family, Lonzo included, holds no ill will toward James considering the narrative that he had a hand in getting Anthony Davis to New Orleans at the cost of Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and draft picks.
