LaMelo Ball pushes back against father’s claims of being a bad fit in Golden State in deleted tweet

Last week, LaVar Ball stayed true to his bombastic self in a podcast appearance on Say Less. When asked about his preference for LaMelo’s landing spot in the 2020 NBA Draft, LaVar maintained the Knicks as his preferred destination but pushed back against the Warriors as well.

Here’s a transcription of LaVar’s comments, courtesy of NBC Sports.

“That’s the part I don’t like about Golden State. They got Klay and the other guys, and now you want to put Melo in that mix to say you got to follow these guys. Melo ain’t no follower. He don’t need to do what they do, let them do they thing.”

On Wednesday evening, LaMelo quote-tweeted a link to an article with LaVar’s quotes on the matter and his own comment before quickly deleting it.

LaMelo likely realized that his rather vague comment could be interpreted many ways. It could be interpreted as him telling his father to chill, though given the family’s close-knit nature, that seems least likely.

It could also have been LaMelo commenting on the article or report itself, which does seem more likely. Given how quickly he deleted the tweet, it could rather easily be interpreted as Ball realizing his comment on the article could be taken as something else and took it down immediately.
