LaMelo Ball gets a strip steal then ridiculous assist in preseason game vs. Magic

It was hard to evaluate LaMelo Ball.

Considering his dad is LaVar Ball, and there’s been so much noise and hoopla around his entire family for so long, and he went abroad and skipped college and played in his dad’s pro league … I mean, who’s to know? Maybe he was as good as people said he was, maybe it was all just a lot of noise.

We’re getting to see the youngest Ball at the NBA level now though, and man, it looks like the young man can play.

People got excited on Saturday night in the fourth quarter of a preseason game between the Hornets and Magic, when Ball showed incredibly quick hands to strip the ball away from a driving Magic player, then turned up court, and made a casual, ridiculous, leading bounce pass that his hit teammate in stride.

Yes, it’s the preseason. Yes, it’s one play. But to do that at both ends of the court, and show that vision with that seemingly effortless execution … that’s not every day you see that. The Hornets could have a good one on their hands.
