Lamela starts as Eriksen joins Lo Celso on the bench - Expected Tottenham team vs Aston Villa

Spurs get their 2019/20 Premier League campaign up and running on Saturday evening with Aston Villa making the trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Starting at home on the opening day for the first time since the 0-0 draw against Man City nine years ago, Mauricio Pochettino will be looking for his team to make a fast start.

Although Spurs fans didn't get their wish on deadline day with Paulo Dybala remaining at Juventus, it was a good transfer window for the Lilywhites.

Pochettino managed to bring his top two targets in at Spurs with Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso both signing on the dotted line, while talented youngsters Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Clarke also sealed moves to Spurs.

Ndombele is in line to make his competitive debut against Villa after playing in four of the team's five games over pre-season.

However, it remains to be seen if Lo Celso will be involved after only completing his move from Betis on Thursday.

Two players who are definitely missing for the game are Son Heung-min and Juan Foyth as they are still suspended following their red cards in the penultimate league game of last season at Bournemouth.

Dele Alli and Ben Davies are also missing for the game through injury, with Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Serge Aurier not expected to feature after only just returning to training.

One of the key decisions facing the manager ahead of the league opener is whether Christian Eriksen starts.

Erik Lamela, who really caught the eye in pre-season, started ahead of the Dane against Inter Milan last weekend and he may get the nod once again.

Here's how we think Pochettino's side will start against the newly-promoted team later on this evening.

Spurs starting XI vs Aston Villa: Lloris; Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Winks, Ndombele, Sissoko, Lamela; Lucas, Kane.
