Lamela, Aurier, Reguilon: Tottenham injury news and return dates ahead of West Brom clash

Tottenham Hotspur could go top of the Premier League with a win away to West Brom on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho's side would reach the summit of the league but only for a matter of hours if Leicester and Liverpool win later in the day.

But Tottenham do not have a particularly good record against the Baggies as they have won just two of their past 10 league fixtures against them (D6, L2).

West Brom won their most recent game against Spurs in May 2018 and can record back-to-back league victories against them for the first time since 1984.

But Tottenham are the division's top scorers and strike duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have been in lethal form so far this term.

Kane also has seven goals in seven Premier League games against the Midlands club.

Mourinho compares Ludogorets win to Antwerp loss

Here is the latest on Jose Mourinho's injured quarter and when they may be in contention to return.

Erik Lamela:

The 28-year-old announced on Instagram that he will be sidelined for a "short time" due to a foot problem.

The Argentine winger has played 10 times already this season for Spurs, with appearances in the league, the Carabao Cup, and the Europa League.

Lamela, who was pictured wearing a protective boot in his post, will miss the West Brom game but the international break comes at a good time as he will have an extended break between their next game against Manchester City on November 21.

The post reads: "I have a problem on my foot and I have to be out of the field for a short time to fix it.

"I'm already working to get back in the best shape I can."

This could mean Gareth Bale could get his first start in the Premier League this term for Spurs.

Sergio Reguilon:

Left-back Reguilon, who played a key role in Sunday's victory over Brighton and Hove Albion by providing an assist for Gareth Bale's winner, missed the midweek 3-1 win over Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad through illness.

The Spain international is currently sidelined, but not with Covid-19, Mourinho confirmed.

Mourinho described Reguilon's absence as "just flu" earlier this week.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of last night's win Mourinho said: "Reguilon is ill but not the Covid situation at all, just flu.

"We don't want to be with the team, he could, but we don't want him to because that position we have two great players and professionals."

He returned to training this week and should be available for the trip to the Hawthorns.

Serge Aurier:

Serge Aurier is in a race against time to be fit after sitting out the trip to Bulgaria with a minor injury.

Though Mourinho did not specify what the issue was, the Spurs chief revealed that after a consultation with the club's medical staff, the former Paris Saint-Germain man did not feel fit enough to be involved.

Despite not being involved last night, there is a chance that the Ivory Coast international could return for the clash with West Brom on Sunday.

Japhet Tanganga

Defender Japhet Tanganga has returned to training recently as he takes a step towards being back in contention for Mourinho's side.

He was spotted participating in training at Hotspur Way on Wednesday morning, meaning he could be edging closer towards a return.

The 21-year-old has only played once so far this season due to a thigh problem.

Though Mourinho did not mention him during either of his press conferences this week, last week he did confirm that he was edging closer to a comeback.

"In treatment from quite an important injury," said Mourinho last week. "Very unlucky kid, he had a problem from before lockdown, then hard work to get back, and then this injury. But he's coming [back]."
