Lambrini launches new summer fizz which is selling at Asda for £5 a pop

Many of us have a least one Lambrini memory from the days we were strapped for cash and wanted a cheap and cheerful tipple that at least looked the part.

And its Champagne-style bottles which are still the mark of many a youthful celebration have now taken on even more of an edge with the launch of a new fizz to mark Lambrini's 25-year anniversary.

The 'Fully Sparkling' drink - in a white Lambrini bottle with gold lettering - is available exclusively from Asda stores nationwide.

Costing £5, it's being described as a perfect summer pick and - in a bid to broaden its appeal still further - its makers say it  also contains fewer calories than presecco (well 15 fewer calories anyway).

A Lambrini Kombucha Fizz cocktail (PR)

A 125ml glass of the Lambrini Blanc sparkling perry has 75 calories, compared with around 90 in general prosecco, while it is also just 5.5% abv.

A spokesman for the company claimed that the prosecco alternative is perfect for either a night in or a night out and, to tempt customers, there are ideas too of how the Lambrini variant can be used in a cocktail.

The suggestions include mixing 75ml of the new Fully Sparkling with 20ml of vodka; 15ml of rosemary gomme and 20ml of pink grapefruit juice to make a new cocktail called There's Something About Rosemary.

Other cocktail ideas include mixing the fizz with honey, gin and Kombucha - a  fermented drink made from sweetened tea - to create a Hello Honey; or with elderflower cordial and sliced watermelon for a Once in a Melon.

Lambrini launches a new fizz to celebrate its 25-year anniversary (PR)

Lambrini, made by Halewood International in Liverpool by and billed as a light and fruity perry, first hit the market in 1994 and has certainly proved its staying power.

It is currently said to dominate the British commercial perry market with a 53.6% market share.

And, as it celebrates its 25-year anniversary, it hints at more upcoming announcements and launches which are currently under wraps, saying: "We’re marking 25 years with a celebration of fashion, fun and all things 90s."

The new Lambrini Fully Sparkling is available in Asda at £5 for a 75cl bottle. For more about the company see here .
