Isn’t this supposed to be its mandatory facelift?
Yes it is. After being on the market for nearly four years, the Lamborghini Huracan has received its mid-life facelift.
The front end sees restyled air vents for a lower look, while the exhaust pipes on the rear have been raised. The side gills and wheels also have a new look.
Inside, the main change is the upgraded 8.4in touchscreen operating the infotainment system.
Lamborghini apparently wants to make this update a little special, so it has added the Evo badge to the Huracan (the open-top Spyder has yet to see this revision).
How much has the Evo evolved in driving terms?
Outputs of the 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 have risen from 610hp to 640hp and 560Nm to 600Nm. This helps cut the 0-100kph time from 3.2sec to 2.9sec; 0-200kph drops from 9.9sec to 9.0sec.
These figures are the same with the Performante model based on the pre-facelift Huracan. Likewise, the Evo has seven-speed dual-clutch automatic driving all four wheels.
Interestingly, the Huracan Evo’s 0-100kph time is on par with the Ferrari 488 Pista and McLaren 720S despite its rivals having a higher 720hp of power.
In a bid to make the Huracan easier to drive, Lamborghini has fitted rear-wheel steering and torque vectoring and remapped the vehicle dynamics control, as well.
What about its German relative?
If you mean the Audi R8, yes, an update for it has also been announced late last year.
But due to its lower position and price in the game of supercars, the R8 isn’t as powerful as the Huracan Evo.
The most potent model yet, the R8 Performance, has 620hp and a 3.1sec acceleration time.
With the Huracan Evo expected to be priced a smidge over 20 million baht when Thai sales start before mid-year, its performance sounds like a good deal when compared to the 27 million baht 720S and 30 million baht 488 Pista.
